Traditional and unique due to the natural raw materials used, no two of our Scottish stag antler shaving brushes are identical. There are three new shaving brushes in our collection. The 'Royal Stag' - Scottish stag antler handle filled with Boar hair. The 'Imperial Stag' - Scottish stag antler filled with Pure Badger hair, The 'Monarch Stag' - Scottish stag antler filled with Super Badger hair. The names given to these wonderful hand crafted luxury shaving brushes refer to the number of points on the antlers of a Red Deer Stag. In addition to our brushes we are also offering two stunning sets of cufflinks. Understated and elegant, these refined Rhodium cufflinks make the perfect present. As a member of the Platinum group, Rhodium is particularly suitable for jewellery as it creates a surface that is resistant to scratches and tarnish. Carved pieces of stag antler are then chosen for their unique texture, they are highly polished by hand before being inlaid into the round or square shaped case. The stag antler for these cufflinks is sourced only from Scotland and the very best antler is used. The swivel barrel design should be threaded through the button holes then turned to create a T-shape to secure the cufflink to the cuff.
Fragrances with a certain je ne sais quoi25/4/13  Molinard was founded in 1849 in Grasse, Provence, in the south of France, cradle of the world's fragrance industry and it has remained an entirely family-run business to this day. At that time, Molinard produced floral waters and Eaux de Cologne, among their first customers were wealthy foreigners from England and Russia and In 1891, Queen Victoria stayed at Grasse, and bought Molinard Eaux de Cologne there. In 1921 Molinard launched the famous Habanita originally marketed not as a personal fragrance but to perfume cigarettes, it was available in scented sachets to slide into a pack of cigarettes or in liquid form, to be drawn along a lit cigarette which perfumed the smoke with the fantastic lasting aroma of Habanita. By 1924 Molinard turned their fabulous scent into a perfume to be worn. Molinard hired famous master glass-maker René Lalique, who created and signed for Molinard some stunningly beautiful bottles. Today's Habanita bottle is a modern interpretation of an original creation by René Lalique. Molinard's Habanita is loved by women but has a huge following among men due to the masculine notes including Vetiver, Cedar, Amber, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Oakmoss and Musk. World War II was as challenging a time for Molinard as for all of France so Molinard invented "The Prisoner's Parcel" to provide a touch of comfort to French soldiers. Scottish Perma-Sharp Razor Blade22/4/13 We have acquired a good stock of Perma-Sharp super stainless double edge blades made in East Kilbride, Scotland, using Sheffield Steel. These DE blades came from the East Kilbride factory in the 1960's and are now no longer in production. Bag yourself some of these fantastic DE blades and a piece of Scottish history while stocks last, as once they are gone they are gone forever. Having tested these blades we highly recommend them - A smooth blade that keeps it's first day sharpness very well.

Latest News 10/4/13 As many of our customers know we regularly trade in vintage Gillette Fatboy and Slim safety razors- Just arrived in-store are a selection of very special vintage Gillette safety razors offered by The Gentleman's Groom Room as always fully restored, cleaned,sterilised,before being re-surfaced and re-plated with a custom durable plating. 1. Gillette 'New' in Rhodium. From the 1930's this open comb razor is offered with an extra alternative solid-guard Gillette Tech head, offering you a choice of head for the shave. Produced from the 1930's 'New' refers to the way the blade was secured on the head by a bar rather than two 'barbers poles'. As you'd expect the Rhodium plating is beautiful. Priced at £155 2. Gillette 'New' in Rose Gold with Yellow Gold head. Originally in the 30's the Gillette 'New' was plated in a thin gold wash which wore away easily revealing the brass/copper handle.This classic Gillette safety razor has been plated in Rose Gold to give it a finish very close to the original, but more robust. The head is plated in Yellow Gold giving the razor a very distinctive look. Priced at £135 
3. Gillette 'Bostonian' re-plated in the original silver. Produced in 1922 this elegant razor has been plated as it was originally returning it to its former glory and is offered with a blade case. A beautiful razor. Priced at £150 4. Gillette 'Super Speed' 1950's. 'Look Forward To The Past'. One of the original twist to open Gillette's. Finished in Black Chrome to give this forerunner of the Fatboy a unique ultra- modern look. £99 5. Gillette 'Pocket Edition' Case c. 1914 with a Silver plated ball-end safety razor from the same era and blade case The 'Pocket Edition' Case has been prepared so the new owner can have their name engraved and has been relined with new purple velvet. Gillette Fatboy And Gillette Slim 18/3/12  The Iconic Gillette Fatboy adjustable safety razor was only made by the Gillette company for four years from 1958 to 1961 and preceded the Gillette Slim adjustable which was made from 1961 until 1968. Both the Gillette Fatboy and the Slim have a setting range from 1 to 9 , 1 being the most mild shave 9 the most aggressive. The Bearded Lady's Straight Razor Shave 27/07/11  The Gentleman's Groom Room were pleased to help out when we got a call from the production team working on the world premiere of the play Futureproof. In a scene from the play a bearded lady gets a straight razor shave. The actress who is to perform the shave in the scene recently visited the shop for some advice and tips, with owner Ian Thomson showing the actress how to wield an open razor in preparation for her latest role. Futureproof The once successful touring freak show Riley’s Odditorium is no longer pulling in the crowds. In a time when freak shows are out of favour in a society obsessed with beauty and normality, when the cheap novelty mermaid act is the only ‘turn’ making money, owner and caller Robert Riley must look for a new way to attract new audiences. But what lengths will Riley go to save the failing show and protect his family of freaks from the harsh reality of life outside the freak show? Futureproof is a world premiere and Dundee Rep's first co-production with the Traverse Theatre Company. It will play the entire season of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival before playing at Dundee Rep.

The Italian Job 09/06/11  In the summer of 2008 we added 'The Italian Job' to our existing menu of shaves, since then it has become a favourite shave with many of our customers particularly in the Summer months as this shave provides the client with such a cooling and refreshing sensation. For 'The Italian Job' shave we use the products of Italy's most venerable barber shop shaving brand, Proraso. Established in 1926 in Florence Italy, where the products are still made Proraso has loyally served generations of well-groomed men. Proraso has guarded it's secret formula based on menthol and eucalyptus oil in a way only a small family owned Italian business can, the recipe has been passed down from one generation to the next. Our 60min Italian Job shave is based on the ethos that shaving can be transformed from a daily chore into a therapeutic ritual and is priced at £25. 
A hot towel is applied followed by Proraso pre shave/ post shave cream a quality pre shave cream which is massaged into the beard, the pre shave gives a bit of protection and allows the blade to glide over the skin more easily, containing eucalyptus oil, Proraso pre shave will refresh the face and soften the beard. A second hot towel is then used to further prep the skin and soften the beard ,then the world famous Italian Proraso shaving soap containing eucalyptus, menthol, coconut oils and glycerin is applied using the finest quality super/silvertip badger hair shaving brush. The shave is performed with an open razor, next another hot towel, and a re-application of Proraso shaving soap in preparation for the second pass with the open razor. This is followed by a cold compress to close the pores. To finish this shave the face is splashed with Proraso revitalising aftershave splash of the old school variety, containing cooling menthol, toning witch hazel and soothing allantoin or Proraso's non-greasy, alcohol-free formula liquid after shave cream with witch hazel and vitamin E to protect and moisturise. Proraso pre/post shave cream is then massaged thoroughly to the freshly shaved skin to conclude 'The Italian Job'. Dundee Mo Bros And Mo Sistas 1/11/10 The Gentleman's Groom Room were delighted to help when staff members at Dundee College who are coordinating a team to be involved in Movember 2010 got in touch. Their colleague Stewart Hutt agreed to have his moustache, which he has sported for 20 years shaved off to be re grown throughout Movember. The team asked shaving specialist Ian Thomson to give his upper lip the professional treatment, with national newspaper The Sun and the local press attending The Gentleman's Groom Room for the 'shave off.'  Movember In The Sun 28/10/2010 The Gentleman's Groom Room got a call from national newspaper The Sun who were looking for a few moustache grooming tips and information on the styles of moustache that could be grown over MOVEMBER, for a Movember article. A copy of the article that appeared in The Sun is pictured. The Mo, slang for moustache, and November come together each year for Movember. Movember challenges men to change their appearance and the face of men’s health by growing a moustache. The rules are simple, start Movember 1st clean shaven and then grow a moustache for the entire month. The moustache becomes the ribbon for men’s health, the means by which awareness and funds are raised for cancers that affect men. Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, the men of Movember commit to growing a moustache for 30 days.

The Gentleman's Groom Room & The Movies 12/9/10 After they saw the fantastic range of products on sale at The Gentleman's Groom Room we got a call from the production team at Ealing Studios London who are working on a British feature film called 'One Day'. Based on the book by David Nicholls and directed by Oscar nominated director Lone Scherfig (An Education), It stars Anne Hathaway (The Devil Wears Prada) and Jim Sturgess (21). The Production team asked us if we could supply some classic luxury male grooming products for one of the main characters, Dexter, played by Jim Sturgess. We see into Dexter's bathroom at various times and Ian at The Gentleman's Groom Room after getting an insight to the character selected the products which were sent to grace Dexter's bathroom on set. Founded in 1896 Aberfeldy combines the fresh spring water of the Pitile Burn with the skill of generations of craftsmen to produce this outstanding single malt whisky. Aromas of peat, heather-honey, raisins, Seville oranges and wood spice are present in this 12 year old scotch whisky. When it came to adding a 'nip' of whisky to our shaving soap it was essential it be a malt. Malt whisky is a different cratur from the blended scotch.  Dundee Rep Ensemble 29/3/10 2010 is the 10th anniversary year for the Dundee Rep Ensemble and The Gentleman's Groom Room were glad to help out when we got a call from the production team looking for some advice and tips for their forthcoming performance. With Ian Thomson the proprietor showing the actor how to wield an open razor in preparation for his latest role, as the world's most infamous barber Sweeney Todd! David who is to play Sweeney then returned to the store with a co star in the production and the director of the show, who was shaved with an open blade for the first time! With the actors taking notes on the procedure. The Award-winning Dundee Rep Ensemble will present the musical Sweeney Todd by Stephen Sondheim, book by Hugh Wheeler from an adaptation by Christopher Bond.
