Brand Profile - Molinard

Molinard one of the most respected perfumeries in the world were founded in 1849 in Grasse, Provence, in the south of France, cradle of the world's fragrance industry and it has remained an entirely family-run business to this day. At that time, Molinard produced floral waters and Eaux de Cologne, among their first customers were wealthy foreigners from England and Russia and In 1891 Queen Victoria stayed at Grasse and bought Molinard Eaux de Cologne there. Since then Molinard of France have been producing some of the world’s most distinctive fragrances. World War II was a particularly challenging time for Molinard as for all of France so Molinard invented "The Prisoner's Parcel" to provide a touch of comfort to French soldiers and their families. The company endured and Molinard celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1949.

The Gentleman's Groom Room as part of our specially selected range of Molinard products are proud to offer our customers two of Molinard's most famous. In 1921 Molinard launched Habanita originally marketed not as a personal fragrance but to perfume cigarettes, it was available in scented sachets to slide into a pack of cigarettes or in liquid form, to be drawn along a lit cigarette which perfumed the smoke with the fantastic lasting aroma of Habanita. By 1924 Molinard turned their fabulous scent into a perfume to be worn. Molinard hired famous master glass-maker René Lalique who created and signed for Molinard some stunningly beautiful bottles. Today's Habanita bottle is a modern interpretation of the original creation by René Lalique. Molinard's Original Habanita is loved by women but has a huge following among men due to the masculine notes including Vetiver, Cedar, Amber, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Oakmoss and Musk.

We also carry Molinard's famous Rasoline brushless non-lathering shaving cream the only shaving product produced by Molinard, formulated with almond oil and glycerin to make it lubricating as well as very moisturising on the skin. Ideal for occasions when time is short and enjoying a traditional wet shave with a brush and lather is just not possible. Rasoline shaving cream dates back to the 1930's, when first introduced by the French fragrance house it was ground breaking as it was the first shaving product which did not have to be applied with a brush. Up until then all shaving products would have been lathered up in a shaving mug or bowl with water and a shaving brush. It was an instant hit with customers and to this day Rasoline is still the first choice shaving cream of many discerning gentlemen throughout Europe.
